Pinkberry Media Content Information

Not just a typical product driven corporation, Pinkberry is also about creating a social experience for their customer.  With tag lines like these:

Pinkberry wants you to connect with the philosophy behind their brand, not just the product itself. The above picture is from their website, which is organized with direct links to social media feeds like Facebook, Twitter and Flikr. Pinkberry knows that spreading the word about your company or product doesn’t require traditional means of marketing anymore because the web lets you throw out a net that is the widest reaching in today’s market place. Halvorson stated that, “For web content to be successful, it needs to meet users' needs and support key business objectives.” Since one of Pinkberry's main goals is helping to connect people who enjoy their frozen yogurt with each other, they utilize many cross fuctional social media platforms, something that I think Halvorson would be give thumbs ups to.

They also utilize popular interactive apps like Foursquare (a location app to post check in spots to social feeds) and Instagram (photo app to transform cell phone pics in artful ways and then share via social feeds). A weekly contest drawing on their main Facebook page chooses a picture submitted from Instagram to be the profile picture of the week on Facebook and Twitter pages. Simply tag your pic with #Pinkberry on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook to enter every week. This type of social media allows the company to interact with current customers, while marketing to all those in the social circles surrounding the current
customers.

Their website has a “Groupies” page for photo and story sharing right on the site. You can create a groupie profile about yourself (a specific format is provided on the site) and share your social network plug-in to allow others to connect with you. The qroupie page includes their blog as well, which shares information about contest winners, new store openings, celeb sightings at Pinkberry and more. The blog seems to be updated less frequently then other social media sites are however. Links to the foursquare app, and a live twitter feed are also embedded within the Groupies page.

Pinkberry drives their social marketing tools with a simple content format. The website shares their brand philosophy and opportunities to connect to other social media. With basic headline tabs and obvious social media links, Pinkberry’s main website is user friendly and overall easy to peruse for company information. The format is simple to navigate with plenty of interactive design, including a sound clip of a catchy song by musician Tigra, (well known for being half of the hip hop duo L'Trimm- a popular group in the 80’s), on the main page. Facebook and Twitter allow for interaction like contests, giveaways and photo sharing. The blog posts promotional material and fan blog posts that revolve around Pinkberry experiences, while also being a achievable spot, and they all link to one or another so that easy access for your preferred platform is always available. This linking strategy engages the customer in a total brand experience and allows for a deeper relationship to be developed among its audience.

Pinkberry has over 80 pages within their website that inform the reader about product & nutrition, company history, and more. But with 8 main Facebook pages, and a Twitter account run by their Director of Digital, Pamela Naumes from the LA based support center, Pinkberry works hard at communicating with the customer on their terms - with social media being at the forefront.

  2. Like many consumer companies, Pinkberry has learned to use social networking in interactive ways among and between networks that build the sense of community they want. A nice job of analyzing and explaining this. You've also made good use of your readings.
